Jesus and Islam

Today the Sydney Morning Herald reported (in “He’s not the son of God, just the support act“) that a Sydney Islamic organisation, MyPeace was beginning a campaign “to educate non-Muslims about Islam”. The paper featured the slogan “Jesus: a prophet of Islam”, which will soon be seen on billboards and buses around Sydney. Other billboards will carry the messages ‘Holy Quran: the final testament’‘ and ‘Muhammad: mercy to mankind’.

These statements suggest the campaign is aiming to win converts, but spokesperson Diaa Mohamed said the campaign was intended to educate non-Muslims about Islam. “We want to raise awareness that Islam believes in Jesus Christ …. We embrace him and say that he was one of the mightiest prophets of God.”

It will be interesting to see how Aussies respond – or perhaps if they even notice.

It will also be interesting to see how christians respond. It seem to me to be an interesting opportunity for christians to respond positively and constructively, and to encourage Muslims to read the gospels and see for themselves what this ‘mighty prophet’ said and did.

The campaign consisted of billboards plus advertisements on the side of buses starting in 2011 and some TV ads in 2013. I don’t watch much TV or ride on many buses but I can’t recall seeing more than one ad. I don’t know if it’s still going. I think a few christians produced billboard ads in response but I don’t recall seeing them either. You can see more at MyPeace.

    Hi paarsurrey

No I’m not aware of meeting anyone from Ahmadiyya. Sydney is a fairly large city and that mosque is located on the opposite side from where I live.
